Paper: Development of a Secure, Standardised, and Interoperable Surveillance Platform for Race-Related Injury and Illness Data within the UCI Men’s and Women’s Road Cycling World Tour-A Study Protocol
Bio: Dr Neil Heron is a Consultant in Sport, Exercise and Musculoskeletal Medicine, a GP, and a clinical academic with a lifelong passion for sport. In his spare time he continues to play 11-a-side football in his local league and is happy to try any new sport. His sport medicine specialist interests include football, cycling, and sailing medicine. The BOSEM award was used to publish research that he has developed over many areas around cycling injury epidemiology, raising awareness of safety issues in the sport and he has now partnered with the UCI to develop this injury epidemiology research work in the World Tour. Dr Heron has published influential research across multiple areas, including in cycling and sailing and the benefits of exercise to the general public.
