Bio: Yasmin Nasir Ajanah is Academic Unit Lead, Course Director, and Assistant Professor in Sports and Exercise Medicine at the University of Nottingham. With over a decade of professional experience as a Physiotherapist, she is HCPC-registered and a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists. Yasmin brings a deep commitment to inclusive education, innovative teaching practices, and evidence-based clinical care.

She holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, a distinction-level MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine and, a Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Honours. Her academic leadership spans curriculum design, student mentorship, and strategic programme development, alongside serving as the Postgraduate Disability Liaison Officer and Unit Lead for Postgraduate Teaching in Injury, Recovery and Inflammation Sciences. Yasmin’s educational contributions have been recognised by Advance HE, through the Fellowship in Higher Education. She contributes to national academic standards through her role as an external examiner at University of South Wales and has honoured internationally with the Distinguished Alumni Award, in the category of Leadership, and a ‘University Icon’ title from Gulf Medical University (UAE).

Clinically, she maintains active roles with Crystal Palace Football Club and multi-national DHL East midlands MSK Physiotherapy services, blending hands-on expertise with academic rigour. Her diverse global experience spans roles across the UK, Nigeria, and the UAE, including musculoskeletal rehabilitation, sports injury management, and holistic physiotherapy care.

Yasmin has presented at national and international conferences, contributed to peer-reviewed research, and served on strategic boards within the University. She is particularly passionate about the intersections of physical activity, rehabilitation, injury prevention, functional performance, sports medicine, public health, and higher education, aiming to empower future healthcare professionals through inclusive, impactful, and contextually relevant training.
