Research: Walking Football for Axial Spondyloarthritis

Bio: Dr Carol Lo is a hospital doctor in General and Acute Internal Medicine, based in Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth. Having previously been a Chartered Engineer in manufacturing industries, a keen interest in Sport & Exercise Medicine drove her to retrain in Medicine, qualifying from the University of Nottingham in 2022.

Working with a small team in Rheumatology and with support from the hospital Research Department, Dr Lo is the Principal Investigator leading the study of Walking Football as structured exercise therapy for axSpA patients, with the hope of gathering sufficient evidence and attracting eligible patients to eventually adopt Walking Football as an exercise referral scheme for axSpA and other Rheumatological conditions.
