2023 Undergraduate Student Elective Award in Association with USEMS Winner: Rifat Hassan

Bio:ย At the time of winning this award, Rifat was a final year medical student at the University of Southampton. He has completed an intercalated BSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine at Queen Maryโ€™s University London in 2020/21 where he won the Arthur Burrow Prize for the best literature review. He is keen on sports medicine research, having had published numerous projects on the British Journal of Sports Medicine (BJSM) blog series. During his elective, he also won the best Scientific Poster Prize under the Ultrasound category at the Society of Radiologists in Training (SRT) conference for his research on frozen shoulder. Outside of university, Rifat enjoys staying fit by going to the gym and playing football recreationally.
