Research: Muscle activity of the extensor carpi ulnaris in the lead and trail wrist of sub-elite golfers during the golf swing
Bio: Patrick graduated from medical school at the University of Glasgow in 2014 and is currently a trauma and orthopaedic surgery registrar in Edinburgh. He was selected to serve as chief registrar at NHS Lothian and recently was awarded a MSc by Research from the University of Edinburgh for his research thesis on the properties of patient reported outcome tools used to measure clinical success following arthroscopic hip surgery.
He is the PGA European Tour medical research fellow studying the biomechanics surrounding musculoskeletal injuries in elite golfers as well as the rates and risks of COVID-19. He co-authored the first international consensus on the reporting of injuries and illnesses in golf and is a physician on the tour’s medical roster. His other research interests include rates of returning to golf following joint arthroplasty, in collaboration with the Hospital for Special Surgery, New York.
