Dr Jean Wong is a Sports and Exercise Medicine Consultant as well as a GP. She’s been a practicing GP since 2005. In 2011, she obtained a Merit in the MSc of Sports and Exercise Medicine (Nottingham University) and has been a GP with an extended role in Sports and Exercise Medicine since then.  She was a GP Partner since 2013 until 2020 when she took up a post as a Sports and Exercise Medicine Registrar in the East Midlands, obtaining a CCT in 2025.
Jean is passionate about Physical Activity and preventative health with about eight years’ experience as a Physical Activity Clinical Champion for the Midlands. She was also a keen advocate of Physical Activity amongst her staff and patients as a GP Partner and took the lead in making her practice an RCGP Park Run Practice in 2015.
Jean has a keen interest in education and has been actively teaching for the last 20 years, both professionally as well as personally as a karate instructor (5th Dan Black Belt).  To further her knowledge in teaching skills, she obtained a Postgraduate Certificate of Medical Education at De Monfort University in Leicester (with merit, 2015). Since then, she served as an Educational Supervisor for GP Registrars (2016-2020), before taking up her ST training post in SEM. Jean has had about 5 years’ experience as an RCGP Sports and Exercise Medicine Representative, where part of her role is to organise and chair the RCGP One Day Essentials Conference in Musculoskeletal Medicine.
Jean has been appointed as BASEM’s General Trustee in November 2023 and is the Chair of Education for the College of Sports and Exercise Medicine.
