We are delighted to be able to announce that the first of the regular steering group meetings has happened between representatives of BASEM and FSEM on the road to getting towards College formation. These are chaired by an independent Chair, Dr Dan Morris. The BASEM representation are: Prof Patrick Wheeler (BASEM Chair), Dr Robin Chatterjee (BASEM Secretary) Dr Dane Vishnubala (BASEM Education Lead) and Jemma Ball, the BASEM staff member responsible for membership communications. As a quick reminder, the primary decisions will remain the legal responsibility of the BASEM Trustees.
The 1st meeting went very well with initial Terms of Reference and a project plan starting to be shaped to guide BASEM and FSEM on the next stages of the journey towards a potential College, which would ultimately bring a single unified voice for this speciality.
We will continue to keep BASEM members up to date with progress, but wanted to share a brief update that this first, very positive, meeting has happened, which marks the next stage in the journey BASEM started a number of years ago.
