Concessionary Membership
All concession fees are discretionary and on application to the BASEM Executive Board All concession membership subscriptions include online access to the BJSM and BASEM Today, voting rights plus all other membership benefits.
To begin your membership registration you will need to have to hand the relevant supporting evidence per category you are applying too:
F1/F2 membership is available for Foundation Year Doctors of medicine who are registered with the General Medical Council and are therefore eligible to practice within the UK.
On application, individuals should ensure they do not complete their FY2 year pre end of year membership subscription. If this happens, the applicant may be contacted and charged Full membership fees for the additional months they will no longer be in their foundation years of training.
*Supporting information required: A copy of GMC registration or details of your GMC number is required upon application.
Students enrolled on Full time Postgraduate Courses in Sport and Exercise Medicine at a UK medical school/university may apply for Postgraduate Student membership. Membership will be limited to the period of study.
*Supporting information required: A letter/email from a college Dean/Tutor or Admin. Personnel from the university/school of medicine at which the applicant is studying. This letter should state the postgraduate in sem course of study, full-time status and expected qualifying date of the individual concerned.
This membership category is available to newly qualified allied healthcare practitioners within 2 years post graduation who are registered with a relevant governing body and are therefore eligible to practice within the UK.
On application, individuals should ensure they do not complete their second post graduation year pre end of year membership subscription. If this happens, the applicant may be contacted and charged Full membership fees for the additional months they will no longer be in their post graduation years.
*Supporting information required: A copy of your professional qualification and registration with your relevant professional body eg. CSP, SST, BasRat, SCP, GOC, BCA, SMA, NMC etc. is required upon application.
This membership category is available to trainees on Sport and Exercise Medicine Higher Specialty Training, limited to 4 years on the trainee programme and registered with the GMC and therefore eligible to practice within the UK.
On application, individuals should ensure they do not complete their fourth year pre end of year membership subscription. If this happens, the applicant may be contacted and charged Full membership fees for the additional months they will no longer be on the training programme
*Supporting information required: A copy of your GMC number/registration and official confirmation of the date you were accepted on to the training programme.
