Return to Rugby Post Shoulder Stabilisation: Are We Doing Well Enough?

2:25
Wednesday
New Dock Hall

Return to rugby following shoulder stabilisation presents ongoing challenges. This presentation explores the objectivity of current return-to-play (RTP) testing protocols, the role of psychological readiness, and other key contextual factors influencing outcomes. Case examples will be used to highlight the complexities of RTP decision-making and to question whether current approaches are grounded in data, experience, or a combination of both.

Emerging innovations including biomechanical assessment, neuromuscular profiling, and cognitive readiness tools could highlight potential new opportunities to improve decision-making and optimise rehabilitation outcomes.
