Both acute and longitudinal exercise training have profound beneficial effects on the immune system. Enhanced immunity depends on several exercise-induced processes, including the release of muscle-secreted proteins, and endocrine, biochemical, mechanical, and metabolic pathways. The speakers will explore the intrinsically linked relationship between working muscle, cardiorespiratory fitness, and immune function. This talk will highlight how a single bout of exercise mobilizes important cancer-killing immune cells into the bloodstream and how regular exercise training regulates the immune system to identify and destroy cancer cells. Additionally, the other discussions include how exercise training can be optimised to improve the immune system's surveillance capacity, thereby reducing the risk of secondary cancers and opportunistic infections.
