The aim of the session is to ensure that practitioners are aware of their roles and responsibilities, as well as the expectations and the requirements placed on medical staff working in sport. The reasons why minimum standards and education exist in the formats they do and why.  What is produced to promote athlete safety produces the biproduct that is health care practitioner protection.

The session will include an introduction to the legal principles of working in a sporting context, with a high-level view of the risk of liability and the relationships with national governing bodies and medical personnel. The session will go onto cover the overlap between commerce, business and health care and how to mitigate risk.

Through the session there will be a set of three mini presentations followed by question-and-answer sessions with each presenter.  To complete the session, the floor will be opened to audience, so that the panel can answer questions raised.
